‘May the spirit of Sluggs live on!’ Daisy May Cooper reveals she’s named her baby son after late This Country co-star Michael Sleggs
Daisy May Cooper paid tribute to her late co-star Michael Sleggs when naming her newborn.
The This Country star, 34, welcomed a baby boy on September 1 but remained in hospital for a ‘traumatic few days’ after suffering complications in labour.
In a sweet Instagram post on Friday, the actress revealed all was now well as she announced the name of her little one.

Alongside a picture of the newborn, she penned: ‘Lots of you have been asking what the bubbas name is. We have named him Jack Michael weston.
‘The middle name Michael after our dear friend Michael sleggs who we lost last year. May the spirit of sluggs live on! ❤️❤️❤️❤️ @willwestonlandscape [sic]’.
Michael died in July 2019 of heart failure at the age of just 33.

Just a couple of months prior, in May, Michael revealed he was terminally ill following a ‘fairly rapid’ deterioration, later clarifying he was suffering from heart failure.
He had played Michael ‘Slugs’ Slugette on the BBC Three sitcom This Country alongside Daisy, who plays Kerry Mucklowe.
The show follows the daily exploits of best friends Kerry and Kurtan in rural England.

Last week, the actress revealed she had to stay in hospital for a few days as she penned: ‘Cannot thank @deliverysuitegrh for all they are doing for our little bubba and me.
‘Its been quite a traumatic few days and they have gone above and beyond’ (sic).
