Today: Allison Langdon snaps at Karl Stefanovic for joke about her taxes

‘That’s not true!’ Today host Allison Langdon snaps at Karl Stefanovic for saying she hasn’t lodged her taxes in a decade

Allison Langdon snapped at her Today co-host Karl Stefanovic on Wednesday after he fired off a string of jokes about her finances.

While interviewing Nine’s money expert Effie Zahos about the start of the new financial year, Karl, 46, joked that his colleague hadn’t lodged her taxes in a decade.

The mother of two, 42, appeared a little taken aback and insisted ‘that isn’t true’.

‘Tomorrow is the start of the new financial year. We all know what that means: it’s tax time,’ Allison told viewers.

Karl added: ‘Well, Ally hasn’t done her taxes for the last 10 years. Just alerting the ATO…’

‘That’s not true! I get them in on time every year, Mr Tax Commissioner,’ she hit back, before bursting into laughter.

‘Every decade she’s on time,’ Karl replied as he continued with the segment.

It comes after the Today crew, including Karl and Allison, flew back to Australia after visiting New Zealand earlier this month.

The co-anchors were joined by their spouses as they strolled through Sydney Airport after their flight across the ditch.

The breakfast show had filmed several segments in Queenstown as part of a promotional campaign with the New Zealand tourism board.

Their visit to New Zealand marked the first time Today had ventured away from Nine’s North Sydney headquarters since their ill-fated trip to the Gold Coast in February.

During that excursion, Allison injured herself badly during a pre-recorded hydrofoiling segment and was out of commission for a month.

Dramatic footage of the accident showed Allison being pulled from the water by her life vest by two male rescuers.
