Tim Allen emotional in Last Man Standing farewell montage as show wraps up after nine seasons

Tim Allen took to social media on Thursday with a video montage hailing the end of his comedy series Last Man Standing, at the end of its nine-season run on primetime.

The clip, set to soft guitar, showed the cast taking their final bow amid a series of shots as they said goodbye to the long-running series.

‘I don’t want to wrap up this story,’ Allen, 67, said while seated on a couch in the clip, while co-star Nancy Travis, 59, said, ‘I will miss everything … ‘I will just take away the memory of having a great time.’

Allen added, ‘We honor family, we honor relationships, it hits the best of all of us … it’s magic, and it will be a long time before I forget about that.’

The tribute also featured shots of the cast, which includes Hector Elizondo, Kaitlyn Dever, Christoph Sanders, Molly Ephraim, Jordan Masterson, Jonathan Adams and Jay Leno.

The plot of the last show will see Mike Baxter’s (Allen) truck go missing, with the family bidding it adieu.

The series first hit the air in 2011 on ABC, which cancelled it in May of 2017 after six years. It was picked up by Fox in 2019 for a three-season run which concludes this week.

Allen earlier this month spoke with Entertainment Tonight about his positive experience doing the sitcom.

‘I took the show pretty seriously when [ABC] said that we were out and I had an alternate reality that for a control freak like me, you do control,’ he said. ‘You go to work and there’s craft service.

‘I loved going to work. Very few jobs I’ve had other than standup, which I don’t like to travel and I don’t like waiting to go on stage because I get nervous, I loved that part of it. This I love. And every now and then there was a two percent chance where I’m like, “I’m done with this.”‘

Last Man Standing airs its one-hour series finale on Fox Thursday at 9/8c.
