Studio 10: Sarah Harris says Prince William is ‘carrying the whole family’

Royal fans were left swooning over Prince William‘s ‘guns’ on Thursday as he shared a photo of himself receiving his first Covid-19 vaccination.

And after the image of his bulging bicep went viral, Studio 10 host Sarah Harris shared her thoughts on the surprisingly buff Duke of Cambridge on Friday.

Taking a swipe at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex – who have become fierce critics of The Firm since stepping down as senior royals – Sarah joked that William has beefed up because he’s now ‘carrying’ the Royal Family on his own.

‘You’ve got to have a fair bit of upper body strength to carry that family…’ Sarah said.

‘Because that’s what he’s doing!’ she added, referring to the ongoing tension between William and his brother Prince Harry.

William and his wife Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, have been praised by Brits for carrying out their duties with dignity during the Covid pandemic – while Harry and Meghan Markle criticise the Royal Family from their mansion in LA.

Sarah’s comments come after William, 38, was photographed being injected by NHS staff at London’s Science Museum, where Health Secretary Matt Hancock was also inoculated.

The image, showing a masked William and two healthcare workers, was shared to the @KensingtonRoyal Twitter and Instagram accounts.

It was captioned: ‘On Tuesday I received my first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. To all those working on the vaccine rollout – thank you for everything you’ve done and continue to do.’

As William rolled up his sleeves to have the jab, many people took to social media to praise the father-of-three for setting a good example.

But several couldn’t resist admiring his bulging biceps, with one tweeting: ‘Check out those guns!’

Another remarked: ‘Duke working out! Nice!’ while one commented: ‘Ha ha, I was just thinking he’s looking pretty fit.’

And one tweeted: ‘Gosh his gorgeous… so glad he found a beautiful, caring wife and has a gorgeous family [sic].’

Another branded Wills ‘Prince Hottie’ while one admitted: ‘Sorry but NICE GUNS is all I see here,’ followed by a kissing emoji. Meanwhile some took to sharing memes poking fun at the Duke’s bulging biceps.

Personal trainer and CROCKFIT app founder Alex Crockford told FEMAIL: ‘Prince William has always been incredibly active in athletics and sports, in addition to his heavily active public and service duties – that’s a significant amount of cardio and fat burning for energy.

HOW TO GET BICEPS LIKE PRINCE WILLIAM

Here Alex shares a work-out routine to help you achieve the Prince’s guns:

Time: 15 minute

Equipment: Dumbbells 10-12kg weight

Routine:

  • Bicep curl – 3 rounds of x15 reps
  • Tricep dip (on a chair) – 3 rounds of x15 reps
  • Shoulder press – 3 rounds of x15 reps
  • Lateral raise – 3 rounds of x15 reps
  • Overhead tricep extension – 3 rounds of x15 reps

Rest: 30 seconds between each set.

‘As someone who’s constantly on the go, this has given him a lean and muscular physique. It’s great to see the future King of England with his pump on – his biceps are looking strong!

‘It’s clear that in addition to all of the cardio from his active lifestyle, he’s balancing it all out with time in the gym, I’d say two to three times a week, regularly lifting weights that generates that lean muscle growth and overall strength.’

Duncan Leighton, Head Trainer at Apex Rides (www.apexrides.com) told FEMAIL there are a few routes the prince could have taken to achieve his ‘injection flex’.

‘I’d imagine the Palace gym is pretty well stocked with equipment so he can target his rear delts [the muscles on the near side of your shoulders] and biceps with some underhand cable pull-downs,’ he said.

‘If you’re not blessed with machinery at home, the same effect can be achieved with underhand pull-ups on a doorframe, starting with just three or four.

‘The bicep peak will have been helped with some isolated bicep curls with a dumbbell or E-Z bar, using a wall behind to minimise any arm swing and focusing on pure elbow flexion.

‘Realistically, with three young children of ever-increasing size, Prince William is going to be whacking out bicep curls every time he lifts Prince Louis, and he’ll be getting some good heavy strength reps in with Prince George and Princess Charlotte too!

‘Anyone who has manoeuvred a pram up a set of steps will attest to the absolute shoulder work out it provides – I’m sure Kate would agree. As a key supporter of mental health wellbeing, the royals are clearly taking time out to enjoy exercise and the benefits it provides, and long may it continue!’

The prince shared the news of his vaccine as it was revealed people aged 34 and over will be invited to book their Covid-19 jab from this morning.

More than one million people aged 34 and 35 will get a text message on Thursday or Friday asking them to come forward, NHS England said.

It added that the vaccination programme is expected to extend to people in their early thirties ‘over the next few days and weeks’.

The duke is the latest member of the royal family to make public their decision to have the vaccine and he follows in the footsteps of the Queen and Prince of Wales.

The prince is left-handed and was photographed receiving his vaccine in his right arm.

In the past he has spoken out in favour of the vaccine, hailing the ‘monumental’ success of the major jab programme and expressing his desire to have his first dose.
