‘We’ve always had amazing talks about [experiencing racism], from when we’ve met. I love how pro-black he is. It’s inspiring for me.’

Leigh-Anne singer wants to be a role model for other young black girls.

She added: ‘There’s only so much you can take of feeling like you are the invisible one, or you’re being overlooked. There had to come a point where I see this as my power and I now do. It is.

‘Being black is my power. And I want young Black girls around the world to see that. One of the reasons I didn’t want to speak at the beginning was because I was so scared of offending [Little Mix fans] and losing them…

‘But I just thought: this is not about me. The reason that I am here, in this position, is for me to speak out and do something.’

It comes after Little Mix were forced to postpone their upcoming Confetti World Tour, their first without Jesy Nelson, until 2022 due to the Covid pandemic.

Andre, who plays for Watford FC, proposed to Leigh-Anne in May at their home during lockdown.

Explaining the moment Andre got on one knee, Leigh-Anne said he ‘set up candles like something out of a movie.’

Speaking on Bumble’s ‘My Love Is…’ podcast in November, she said the pair were watching a movie at the time.

She continued: ‘Then it cut out and there was pictures of us, it was playing our song, then the screen changed to ‘Will you marry me?’ and he was on one knee.’

Andre said he had been planning to pop the question to Leigh-Anne for quite some time, but struggled after the UK’s first lockdown was put into place in March.

He also said his sister stepped in to help him pull off the proposal, making sure he could make the moment as romantic as possible.

Leigh-Anne and Andre first announced their engagement as they celebrated their fourth anniversary.

Shortly after, Leigh-Anne commented on the news herself, writing: ‘Guys.. wtf has just happened… He bloody did it, and I said yes…

‘I’m marrying my soul mate, the man of my flipping dreams… I am lost for words, so I think I’m just going to go cry some more @andregray_ I love you so much. My world is literally complete’.

It comes after Leigh-Anne and her Little Mix bandmates Jade Thirlwall, 28, and Perrie Edwards, 27, announced they have had to postpone their Confetti tour until April 2022.

The group – who released their Confetti album in November – said in a series of tweets: ‘You know how much we love being on the road and performing every night for you all.

‘However, due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, we must prioritise the safety of our fans and crew and help to stop the spread.

‘Therefore we’re so sad to say that the Confetti tour will be postponed to April 2022.

‘All tickets will be valid for the corresponding rescheduled dates and we’re taking this chance to add an additional show for our fans in Cardiff. (sic)’
