Lord Alan Sugar shares sweet throwback wedding day snap with his wife Ann on their 53rd anniversary

He’s known for his stern demeanor in the boardroom on the BBC‘s business reality show The Apprentice.

But Lord Alan Sugar showed his softer side when he took to Instagram to share a sweet throwback snap from his wedding day with his wife Ann on Wednesday.

’53 years ago 28th April 1968,’ wrote the mogul, 74, alongside the romantic black and white photograph.

Alan and Ann looked in high spirits as they clinked their wine glasses on their special day.

Lord Sugar donned a satin labelled suit with a cute bow tie while his wife looked gorgeous in a large veil and long-sleeved white dress.

A young romance, Ann met Alan when she was just 16 and he was 18 and starting out as a businessman.

The couple then married in April 1968 at Great Portland Street Synagogue and honeymooned in Majorca for two weeks.

Speaking about his low key proposal, Alan previously said: ‘It was more along the lines of, “I suppose we should get married then?”

‘There was certainly no going down on one knee, with a rose, in a restaurant. In fact we were going over the Stratford flyover in the minivan at the time.’

Over their lifetime, the loved-up couple have welcomed three children, Simon, Daniel and Louise, and have seven grandchildren.

In the past, for their 40th wedding anniversary, Alan celebrated their milestone with a huge party, which was attended by Piers Morgan and even had a performance from Sir Elton John.

Talking about the party for Mail On Sunday, Piers previously revealed the business mogul said: ‘I can honestly say I have never ever heard anyone say a bad word about Ann.

‘As you know you can’t say the same about me. Talk about chalk and cheese…

‘She always says the day she met me she knew she had met Mr Right; what she didn’t know was that my first name was Always…

‘A real successful man puts the love of his wife and children first, a real successful man’s greatest position in life is to have a great family,’ he added.

‘I am lucky enough to have had a wife for 40 years, who gave me three great children, who in turn have given us seven wonderful grandchildren.

‘You see, everything I have today is because of the love of that lady and the respect my three children have for the both of us. Ladies and gentlemen thank you for coming, let’s have a great night.’
