Chris Pratt is seen in newly released images for his upcoming action film, The Tomorrow War.

The Minnesota native, 41, who is married to Katherine Schwarzenegger, 31, is seen in a number of high-pressure instances including aiming a rifle and peering out of a helicopter. 

The leading man, who plays Peter Quill/Star-Lord in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, plays the role of high school teacher Dan Forester in the forthcoming film.

Forester in the film works with a band of soldiers to time travel 30 years forward to 2051 with a key message to deliver in the battle against aliens invading the earth.

Pratt is joined in the cast of the time-traveling film by Yvonne Strahovski, who plays a scientist; J.K. Simmons, who plays Forester’s estranged dad; and Betty Gilpin.

The film was slated to debut late last year, but was sidelined amid the coronavirus pandemic that shut down theaters. It was subsequently sold to Amazon in a deal estimated around $200 million earlier this year, Variety reported.

Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke called the film ‘a global event that will surprise and delight our customers around the world.’

In an Instagram post earlier this month, Pratt opened up about his experience as an executive producer on the blockbuster.

He said: ‘This was the first feature film I ever executive produced. And honestly, it’s just so fantastic. I honestly can’t believe how good it is (humbly-we crushed it). It’s emotional, action packed, funny, scary, moves well and leaves you floored! It’s just really, really good!

‘It’s testing through the roof!!! For real. You can’t fake that stuff. Every day people watched this movie and gave it an A+!!’ 

The movie, which is directed by Chris McKay, is set to come out on Amazon Prime Video July 2.
