Kourtney Kardashian reveals the initial difficulties in getting their KUWTK reality show on network TV: ‘No one wanted it’

Keeping Up With The Kardashians is currently its last season after 14 years on the air.

And Kourtney Kardashian revealed that it was initially difficult to get a network to pick up their reality show. 

The 41-year-old reality star said that they tried to pitch a show following her, Kim and Khloe Kardashian and ‘no one wanted it,’ via People.

Kourtney sat down for an interview for Emergency Contact podcast with co-hosts Simon Huck and Melissa Gray Washington; the interview debuted Thursday.

Kourtney said that Kim was contacted first by a producer about a possible show.

‘This producer that met Kim had just found her really interesting and wanted to shoot with her, so they came and Kim was like, “Can we come to the store?”‘

Kim, Kourtney and Khloe owned a boutique called Dash for 12 years, expanding the location to New York and Miami in addition to the original LA location; they closed all three locations in 2018.

Kourtney continued: ‘They came to the store and the girl was like, “Oh my God, you and your sisters! This is everything.” So then we started trying to pitch a show, like, [about] the sisters.’

Adding: ‘I remember we went to E!, we went to everything – I think no one wanted it or something.’ 

Afterward, a casting director came to their home for dinner and told Kris Jenner that they were going to call Ryan Seacrest to get the show on air.

‘They introduced Ryan to my mom and then we made a reel, and it just was picked up right away.’ Kourtney explained.

‘I think something happened with like, Lindsay Lohan’s show and they needed filler, and so they were like, “Oh, this is going to be a one-season thing.”‘ 

KUWTK is currently in their 20th and final season; season 20 premiered on March 18 and airs every Thursday on E!.
