Producers are said to be having late-night discussions to see if they can host a satellite ceremony for this year’s Academy Awards at London‘s BFI Southbank.
The Academy previously said this year’s Oscars, to air on Sunday April 25, will be broadcast live and ‘in-person’ from multiple locations, after it was postponed two months by the pandemic.
According to Variety, producers are having talks with the British Film Institute about holding the event, with its U.K. nominees, at the BFI in Southbank.

The publication states the Academy is trying to find a solution that will work with current guidelines, if they plan to host the ceremony indoors.
The source added to Variety that only nominees will receive an invite to the coveted event, alongside one guest and everyone will have to take two coronavirus tests before the ceremony.
Those travelling to the U.K. will need to quarantine for the required 10 days, and take two coronavirus tests.

Sacha Baron Cohen, Daniel Kaluuya, Carey Mulligan and Vanessa Kirby lead the British nods for the 93rd Academy Award nominations.
Sacha, 49, is recognised in the Best Supporting Actor category for Borat Subsequent Moviefilm while Daniel, 32, will compete against him with his role in Judas and the Black Messiah.
Previous Best Actor Oscar winners Gary Oldman, 62, and Anthony Hopkins, 83 will face off against fellow Brit and Emmy winner Riz Ahmed in the Best Actor category for Mank, The Father and Sound of Metal respectively.
They join fellow Best Actor nominees, the late Chadwick Boseman for Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and Steven Yeun for Minari.
Oldman previously won the Oscar in 2018 for Darkest Hour while Hopkins won for his iconic role as Hannibal Lector in 1992’s Silence of the Lambs.

The Best Actress category sees Brit actresses Vanessa Kirby, 32, and Carey Mulligan, 35, nominated for Pieces Of A Woman and Promising Young Woman.
Carey is fresh off the success of the Critics’ Choice Awards – where she picked up the Best Actress gong while Vanessa has also enjoyed multiple nominations across awards season.
Emerald Fennell is nominated for Best Director for Promising Young Woman, making Oscars history with Chloé Zhao for Nomadland – the first time ever two women have been nominated in the category.
In the Supporting Actress category, previous winner Olivia Colman is recognised for her role in The Father, alongside Maria Bakalova for Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, Glenn Close for Hillbilly Elegy, Amanda Seyfried for Mank and Youn Yuh-jung for Minari.
A satellite ceremony will also take place in Paris, where seven nominees will attend a local studio from Canal Plus. Due to stricter Covid restrictions, the publications reports nominees will not be allowed to bring a plus one.
The film academy has confirmed that the show will be held at both its usual home in the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles and the city’s railway hub, Union Station.
The 93rd Academy Awards will be ‘an Oscars like none other, while prioritizing the public health and safety of all those who will participate,’ a spokesperson said.
Last month, producer Steven Soderbergh said the Academy is keeping plans for the Oscars under wraps, due to the ever-changing restrictions the pandemic brings. He said: ‘We’re so sorry for the frustration that our silence has caused. It’s not because we don’t care. It’s not because we aren’t listening or that we’ve been caught off guard by the complexities of the show.
‘Every day since the nominations came out, we’ve had an internal debate whether to release information about what we’re doing even though that information is often etched in Jell-O.’
