Allison Langdon reveals her return date to the Today host seat

She’s been sidelined for a month after suffering a gruesome injury during a Today show stunt gone wrong.

But Allison Langdon has revealed she’s set to return to screens in a matter of days.

Writing on the Nine website on Wednesday, the 41-year-old presenter revealed that she would return to Today’s helm alongside co-host Karl Stefanovic on Monday Monday morning.

She’s back! Allison Langdon, 41, (pictured) confirmed on Wednesday that she is set to return to the helm at Today on Monday morning – weeks after she was sidelined due to a nasty knee injury she’d sustained during a botched TV stunt

‘I’m starting to count down the sleeps until I join Karl, Alex, Brooke and Tim back on the desk on Monday morning,’ the journalist enthused.

She continued, ‘I can’t believe it has been a month since the accident. In that time I have pretty much read every book on my wish list (which was long), done countless jigsaw puzzles with the kids and tried to make the most of the downtime.’

The presenter also shone some light on her accident, explaining, ‘I’ve been working really hard on my rehabilitation, which hasn’t been pleasant, but I’m slowly getting there.’

‘I’ve loved watching the show as a viewer this past month. Great to see the vaccine roll out underway and I can’t wait to see Oprah’s full and frank chat with Meghan and Harry. The snippets have been compelling – I wonder how Buckingham Palace feels about it. I think perhaps the Queen is more concerned with the health of Prince Philip right now.’

Allison also praised out her temporary replacement Sylvia Jeffreys: ‘A huge shout out to the gorgeous Sylvia for doing an awesome job hosting these past two weeks. Not easy getting out of bed that early with a new bub weeks away and a toddler at home. She’s been amazing, as was Leila. Two brilliant human beings – thanks guys!’

‘Anyway five more sleeps before my alarm goes off at 3.30am – see you Monday!’ she signed off.

Today host Allison Langdon has opened up on the gruesome injuries she suffered when a watersports stunt for the Channel Nine show went horribly wrong.

The journalist, 41, has been off the air since undergoing knee surgery after falling from a hydrofoil during a pre-recorded segment on the Gold Coast on February 4.

Speaking on The Kyle and Jackie O Show on Thursday, Allison revealed for the first time the extent of her injuries – and said she ‘can’t wait’ to get back to work.

She listed her injuries after her Today co-host Karl Stefanovic said she’d simply suffered a ‘bruised kneecap’.

‘I’ve done a right royal job on it,’ Allison said, correcting him, before revealing she’d actually broken her leg and dislocated a knee.

‘That sound horrific!’ said radio host Jackie ‘O’ Henderson.

Jackie noted dislocating a knee is particularly painful and there is a high probability of suffering the same injury again.

Allison joked that she’ll have an impressive scar on the back of her leg after it heals.

When asked about her return to Today, she said optimistically: ‘I’m desperate to get back, I actually miss Karl and the team. A couple more weeks and then hopefully.’

Allison said she was seeing a physiotherapist three times a week and resting up at home with her two children and husband.

A week earlier, she’d revealed she was finally back home after having knee surgery in Sydney.

She shared a photo to Instagram of herself with her children, Mack, four, and Scout, two, and captioned it: ‘So nice to get home to these two.’

In a statement to Daily Mail Australia earlier this month, a Channel Nine spokesperson described what had happened as ‘an unfortunate accident’.

‘After nearly an hour of incident-free filming of a segment about hydrofoiling, Ally fell awkwardly as she headed back to the marina at the end of the shoot,’ they said.

The statement added that both Karl and Ally had a ‘comprehensive safety induction and a thorough run-through of all aspects of hydrofoiling.
