Ben Affleck says the public was ‘sexist and racist’ about his romance with Jennifer Lopez:

Ben Affleck FINALLY addresses his romance with Jennifer Lopez as he slams the ‘sexist and racist’ remarks made about her: ‘People were so f***ing mean’

  • The two labeled Bennifer got attention when they dated from 2002 and 2004
  • But several outlets were critical of the lovebirds as they flaunted their love
  • Now Ben has told The Hollywood Reporter that he felt people were ‘mean’
  • ‘People were so f***ing mean about her – sexist, racist,’ the Batman star said
  • This is the first time Ben has talked in such detail about their treatment

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez fell in love on the set of their film Gigli and ended up getting engaged.

The romance was tabloid fodder as he was seen rubbing J-Lo’s bottom in her Jenny From The Block music video and they hit red carpet events in coordinated outfits.

Now the Oscar-winning Argo director has reflected back on that relationship as he shares that he felt people were not fair about their union. ‘People were so f***ing mean about her – sexist, racist,’ the Batman star told The Hollywood Reporter.

They were a big thing: Ben Affleck has finally addressed how he and Jennifer Lopez were treated as he talked to The Hollywood Reporter; seen in 2003

The two became engaged in 2002 to much fanfare when he presented her with a pink diamond ring, which subsequently became all the rage at the time with knockoffs popping up everywhere.

They were supposed to wed in 2003 but decided to hold off which tabloids thought meant trouble. In early 2004 the two called off their engagement.

‘Ugly, vicious s*** was written about her in ways that if you wrote it now you would literally be fired for saying those things you said,’ Affleck said during the podcast.

‘Now it’s like, she’s lionized and respected for the work she did, where she came from, what she accomplished — as well she f***ing should be!’

The ex-husband of Jennifer Garner added, ‘I would say you have a better shot, coming from the Bronx, of ending up as like [Justice Sonia] Sotomayor on the Supreme Court than you do of having Jennifer Lopez’s career and being who she is at 50 years old today.’

Affleck – who was promoting his film The Way Back – then added: ‘You know, there’s always a story of the month, and me dating Jennifer Lopez happened to be that tabloid story at the time when that business grew exponentially.

‘Still, to this day, [some] will go, “I see you out there in the paparazzi and the pictures!”

Ben is now dating Ana de Armas and Jennifer is engaged to Alex Rodriguez.

In 2018 Jennifer said she got more attention dating Ben in 2002 than she does now with Alex.

‘It was actually worse then,’ she told InStyle.

‘It was just crazy. Now at least I can show you who I am a little bit. Back then you just believed anything you read on the cover of a tabloid.

‘Many times it wasn’t true, or it was like a third of the truth.’
