Singer Sevyn Streeter reveals she is COVID-19 positive… but still hopes to release new album ‘top of 2021’

The singer Sevyn Streeter announced on her Instagram page this Wednesday that she has been diagnosed with coronavirus.

However the show must go on for the 34-year-old, who has a home studio and is ‘doing everything I can’ in quarantine to have her next album ready early next year.

‘Just got the word I’ve tested positive for COVID. I’m all good but will be isolating for a little bit to protect those around me,’ she wrote.

‘And trust me I’m doing everything I can 2 deliver my new project “DRUNKEN WORDZ SOBER THOUGHTZ” to y’all top of 2021 but I have 2 make sure I’m being safe first.’

She wrapped up her message by saying she was ‘Sending love to everyone in these crazy times. Stay safe and healthy.’

Sevyn, whose Christian name is Amber Denise Streeter, wrote in her caption: ‘Adversity & responsibilities, Im more than capable of navigating…..but the idea of spending Christmas away from my family during these times…..absolutely heartbreaking. This year is def 1 for the books’.

Then she threw in a few hashtags, advising fans to ‘#StaySafe’ and ‘#WearYourMask’ and plugging her new album ‘#DWST’.

Her album title comes from the old saying ‘a drunken man’s words are a sober man’s thoughts,’ a successor to the Latin phrase ‘in vino veritas.’

Sevyn has released two EPs before, Call Me Crazy But… and Shoulda Been There, but only one LP called Girl Disrupted two years ago.

She has already released the lead single from Drunken Wordz Sober Thoughtz, which is called HMU and dropped this September.

In a recent interview with the podcast Get Laced… Let’s Talk! she said that the pandemic is ‘very scary, very sad. We’ve lost a lot of lives.’

However the circumstances of the coronavirus lockdowns also ‘created a sense of freedom when it came to creating music.’

She explained: I was able to put a studio in my house during this pandemic. With that, it opened up this whole new world for me musically.’
