‘I felt like, why did I get shot? Like, what did I do? It was insane. The s*** was crazy and I feel like some people think that it’s funny and some people think that it’s a joke, and I feel like some people are saying it to get to me.’

The live fan interaction came just ahead of the music video release for her song with Cardi B titled WAP as she got personal about the scary incident.

She said: ‘But I’m not ashamed of who I am and I’m not ashamed of what I’ve been through and I’m not scared to say anything about anything.

‘It’s not fun, b****. I don’t understand. I just felt very betrayed by a friend. I felt very betrayed by all my friends. I felt very shocked, very scared.’

Though the incident was traumatizing, the rapper wanted to make sure her fans knew that she will be able to shake it off eventually.

The Hot Girl Summer rapper said: ‘But the one thing that y’all need to know about me is I’m not a person who is able to be down for a long time. I’m not a person who is…I don’t like to be victimized. I don’t like to feel like, “Oh my god, Megan , something’s wrong.” I like to be upbeat. I like to be happy.

‘I feel like I always have to be a light, I feel like I always have to be an example ’cause I’ve actually seen some pretty f***ed up things and I’ve been through some f***ed up things and I always want people to know that pain does not last forever. Bad times don’t last forever.

Opening up: She said: 'I just felt very betrayed by a friend. I felt very betrayed by all my friends. I felt very shocked, very scared'

‘So I definitely always want people to see me being an example of bad things not lasting forever. Just because you go through something bad, don’t mean that that’s the time you gon’ be in forever.’

As she has always expressed her love and adoration for her mother and grandmother, she ended the statement with words of wisdom from one of them.

She said: ‘My grandma always told me, “Don’t never let nobody steal your joy.” So that’s the type of person I am. I’m never gonna let nobody steal my joy.’

Last month, Megan was treated for a ‘gunshot injury’ at Los Angeles’ Cedars-Sinai Hospital.

This came shortly after police pulled over 27-year-old Tory’s chauffeur-driven  vehicle around 4:30AM.

Rapper Lanez allegedly shot Megan’s feet on the early morning of July 12 during an argument after a Hollywood Hills house party.

According to TMZ, Megan was attempting to get out of the SUV she was in with Tory when he opened fire inside the vehicle.

Footage shows the police ordering Megan and Tory to leave the vehicle and put their hands in the air as her feet leave bloody prints on the sidewalk.

Megan spoke about her injuries a few days after, when she denied claims she was arrested alongside Tory, who was charged with carrying a concealed weapon.

She wrote on Instagram at the time: ‘The narrative that is being reported about Sunday’s morning events are inaccurate and I’d like to set the record straight. On Sunday morning, I suffered gunshot wounds, as a result of a crime that was committed against me and done with the intention to physically harm me.

Megan added: ‘I was never arrested, the police officers drove me to the hospital where I underwent surgery to remove the bullets.’

She continued: ‘I’m incredibly grateful to be alive and that I’m expected to make a full recovery, but it was important for me to clarify the details about this traumatic night. I’m currently focused on my recovery, so I can return back to my life and back to making music as soon as possible.’

And captioning the post, she added: ‘I was never arrested. This whole experience was an eye opener and a blessing in disguise. I hate that it took this experience for me to learn how to protect my energy.’

The rising rapper has since revealed she feels ‘traumatized’ after suffering gunshot wounds ‘as a result of a crime that was committed against’ her.

In a tweet posted on July 17, the rapper hit out at those who have been joking about the situation online, as she says she is ‘real life hurt’ by the incident.

Megan wrote on Twitter: ‘Black women are so unprotected & we hold so many things in to protect the feelings of others w/o considering our own.’

She added: ‘It might be funny to y’all on the internet and just another messy topic for you to talk about but this is my real life and I’m real life hurt and traumatized.’
